Gamespy – Late -  Entry Fix For Insane

Before Altering this file make a Backup

With this easy fix you can allow people to join your games after you start them,

people won't have to IP in the old way.

1. Open up "C:\Program Files\Gamespy Arcade\Services\full.cfg" in Notepad or your favorite text editor.

2. Search for the line "[insane]"

3. Go down roughly 15 lines below "[insane]" to where it says "lateentry=0", and change that to "lateentry=1"

4. Now Save full.cfg and restart Gamespy.

5 optional

While you're in the file,

If you let the game room fill to 8 before launching into game change the line

 "maxplayers=8" to a higher number, like "maxplayers=9".

This helps ensure that your room won't fill up,

because if your room is full when you start it people will not be able to late-join afterwards,

even if some players drop out.

Note

If you have the late entry fix and launch your game before it fills then leave it at maxplayers=8

This will help prevent game.exe errors.

Example

If your room is full  with 8

and you have any watchers when you go back to the in-game lobby it will crash / lock up.

Note.

in the Gamespy Lobby – when a user has the late entry fix.

Under the Room Name Tab the icon will show a green arrow meaning late joining is enabled.

To join just double click the room.

Under the Players Tab only the people in the room lobby at the start will show here.

Late joiners do not show so be aware If you try to join the room maybe already full

so you will not be able to join you will return to the main Gamespy Insane lobby.

Tip

Say only 1 room is open with late entry and is only showing 2 people in there

look to see how many people are in game by looking at the gamers in the right of the Chat area

you will see an orange rocket in front of their name.

Late Joining by The Buddy List

Most of the time when there is a game open they do not show like they should

This means that you will need to join by the Playspy Buddy List.

To get your Buddy List to show You will see a Green dot  greendot.png

in the top right of the gamespy window Click it to open.

If you have no Buddy’s in your list you will need to add them

Adding Buddy’s

Right click a players name in the Chat window then select Add To Playspy List.

When a room is up and running and any of your Buddy’s are playing

It will show Playing Insane under their name in your Playspy List

To late join

Make sure you have done the Late Join Fix – info above

Now you just have to Click were it says Playing Insane and you will join.

if you do not have the late join fix

then the buddy list join will not work because you would not be able to click Playing Insane

DO-NOT

Late-Join Online Games with add-on Vehicles.

Unless you have been given permission.

If your last online game was with an add-on then it’s safer to switch to a standard before joining

The person joining will automatically switch to the hosts game mode.

you don't go straight in you are in watching mode Be sure you ask before You join.
